  1. Very well commented!

Sometimes, living through life’s rat-race – we seldom turn calculative – which also indicates that our mind is usually pre-occupied. The mind that is usually always occupied, tends to develope the habit of staying so! Hence an ideal state of mind (sthirta), is somewhat difficult to achieve.

In order to cultivate this habit, one must train ones mind on a regular basis (perhaps daily), to stay still! A still mind need not mean that one avoid thinking. A still mind means that one is at peace with oneself.

Hence at the end of the day, achieving peace with oneself is very important to keep a healthy and steady mind! One can be at peace with oneself on a regular basis with cultivation of honesty to oneself. And in-order to be honest to oneself it is imperative to be in touch with our feelings!!

So much for keeping the mind healthy, calm and steady in-order to develope the intellect..and thereafter intelegence, that could be used to harness / gather knowledge.
