आनंद शब्द “नंद” धातु से बना है, नंद का अर्थ है संतोष । जब संतोष आ जाए तो आनंद होगा ही । इसका उल्टा कुछ होता ही नहीं, जैसे सुख का उल्टा दु:ख होता है ।
यह कथन बिलकुल सत्य है; आनंद तभी मिल सकेगा, जब संतोष होगा; बिना इसके सुख भी नहीं मिलेगा ।
